African Fishing Or Rapala Lures

Our fishing hasn't involved expensive rods or lures. All we've had is a lot of line and imagination for home made lures! One factory made lure is, however, definitely worth investing in...

And that's the Rapala red and white wobbler! On the second day with that one in the water, we caught a 10 kilo tuna! We were recommended the lure by a Greek fisherman in Chania, and he definitely knew what he was talking about!

Poor wobbler took a beating from the big guy!

Earlier, we've mainly had home made lures, made by our captain. The most successful one has been the rubber-glove-turned-into-an-octopus. Must say, it looks really real! And it's for sure as good as the octopus look-alike lures they sell in fishing stores. The milk-can-turned-into-a-fish was maybe a bit off...

Captain presenting his art work. Milk can fishes are stealing the show but there's a few rubber glove octopuses behind them!

And then there's the fish you don't need lures for! This poor guy ended up on our deck the other evening when we were sailing and just having dinner! We chose not to add that one to the grill, however...

Flyfish for dinner, anyone?
